Ninja Scroll is a dark fantasy action anime set in feudal Japan. The story follows Jubei Kibagami, a wandering swordsman and former ninja who becomes entangled in a conspiracy threatening the Tokugawa shogunate. When a mysterious plague devastates a village, Jubei uncovers a plot involving the fearsome Eight Devils of Kimon, a group of supernatural ninja warriors seeking power and political upheaval.

As he battles these deadly enemies, Jubei is aided by Kagero, a female ninja whose body contains lethal toxins, and Dakuan, a cunning government spy. Together they confront powerful foes, uncover betrayals, and face the resurrected leader of the Eight Devils, who shares a dark connection to Jubei's past.

Directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri and released in 1993, the film is known for its intense sword fights, mature themes, supernatural villains, and highly detailed animation. It is widely regarded as one of the most influential adult-oriented anime films, alongside Akira and Ghost in the Shell.

The film contains graphic violence, nudity, sexual assault themes, and other mature content, making it intended for adult audiences.
