Description

Harry Walker (Janssen), flies a traffic helicopter for a Salt Lake City Radio station. One morning he witnesses a bank hold up and the kidnapping of one of the tellers. Using his helicopter and his years of action as WW2 pilot, Harry pursues the criminals.

Janssen was a real pilot and flew these scenes himself! Life and death copter action plus the relationship that develops with the kidnap victim, are all reasons why I love this movie.

My only comment is about one scene in which the protagonist, Janssen, stops a fuel truck in the middle of a road. One commented that helicopters use jet fuel exclusively. They don't. It depends on the engine. Most training helicopters have piston engine and use aviation gasoline, most commonly AVGAS 100LL, but many can also take car gasoline. The helicopter used in the film is a Hughes 369 / 500 / OH-6. The engine has considerably fewer parts, mechanically is very reliable, produces reduced exterior noise, and runs on virtually any fuel: petrol (gasoline), diesel fuel, aviation fuels. Similarly, the Swedish Stridsvagn 103 was the first tank to utilize a gas turbine, in this case as a secondary, high-horsepower "sprint" engine to augment the primary piston engine's performance.Hughes 369 / 500 / OH-6 those use jet fuel.

One ridiculous part that nearly ruined it for me: The scene where "Harry" flagged down a fuel truck and and pumped GASOLINE into a JET FUEL chopper ----- Hilarious ! ! ! Try that in the REAL world and you'll wake up on the moon.
