Description

Blood Beach (1980)

"Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water... you can't get to it."

On a crowded Southern California beach, people begin disappearing without a trace. Victims are mysteriously pulled beneath the sand, leaving behind only screams, blood, and baffled investigators. As the death toll rises, harbor patrol officer Harry Caulder and his former girlfriend Catherine Hutton investigate the strange attacks after Catherine's mother becomes one of the missing. Their search leads them beneath the beach, where they uncover a horrifying creature living underground and feeding on beachgoers.

The movie blends horror, mystery, and creature-feature elements, often described as a mix of Jaws and Tremors—except the danger comes from beneath the sand rather than from the ocean or desert.

Sun, surf, and screams with David Huffman, Marianna Hill, Burt Young, John Saxon, Otis Young, Lena Pousette, Stefan Gierasch; written and directed by Jeffrey Bloom ("Flowers in the Attic").
