Temptress (1995)

Temptress is a dark, sensual supernatural horror thriller starring Kim Delaney, Chris Sarandon, Dee Wallace, Corbin Bernsen, Ben Cross, and Jessica Walter.

Kim Delaney plays Karin Swann, a successful photographer who returns from a spiritual journey in India with a mysterious statue of the Hindu goddess Kali. The unsettling part is that Karin has no memory of obtaining it.

Not long after her return, Karin begins experiencing disturbing changes in her personality. The confident, ordinary woman her friends know becomes increasingly seductive, impulsive, and fascinated by violence and death. She suffers terrifying visions and nightmares, while the people closest to her begin to wonder whether she is losing her mind—or whether something much darker has taken control of her.

Her boyfriend, Matt Christianson (Chris Sarandon), desperately tries to understand what is happening. Karin's best friend Allison (Dee Wallace) is equally alarmed as Karin's behavior becomes more dangerous. A seemingly innocent party eventually turns horrifying when Karin's supernatural transformation contributes to a man's death.

As the mystery unfolds, hypnosis and recovered memories reveal a disturbing connection between Karin's experiences in India and an ancient supernatural force. What initially appears to be psychological instability may actually be possession, with Karin becoming a vessel for a powerful and malevolent entity.

The film gradually shifts from erotic thriller to full-blown supernatural horror as Karin struggles against the force taking over her. Matt must confront the possibility that the woman he loves is being consumed by something ancient—and that saving her may require confronting the entity itself.
