Invader Zim is a dark science-fiction comedy that follows Zim, an overconfident but hopelessly incompetent alien from the Irken Empire who is sent to Earth on what he believes is a mission of conquest. Determined to prove himself to his leaders, Zim disguises himself as a human and plots one outrageous scheme after another to enslave humanity. Unfortunately for him, his plans are constantly undermined by his own ineptitude, his malfunctioning robot sidekick, GIR, and the relentless efforts of his paranoid classmate, Dib Membrane, who is convinced Zim is an alien and is determined to expose him.

Originally airing on Nickelodeon from 2001 to 2002, the series became a cult classic thanks to its unique visual style, offbeat humor, and blend of absurd comedy with surprisingly dark themes. Although its original run was brief, Invader Zim developed a devoted fan base, leading to comics and the 2019 animated film Invader ZIM: Enter the Florpus.

The series is best known for its eccentric characters, bizarre inventions, gothic-inspired art direction, and satirical take on both alien invasion stories and everyday suburban life.
